Internal Flights in Australia

Im going to Australia in April & going to 3 different destinations which will involve internal flights. I was wondering if anyone could tell me which airlines are best to use. I would hate to book the flights & end up with cancellations etc.

Hi,

"Best" is always subjective, and to be honest, there isn't really that much difference on domestic sectors. One thing to keep in mind, is your affiliation with any frequent flyer programs, as it can contribute points. Other than that, go by routes and fares. And of course be sure to read all T&C carefully for flexibility.

For domestic flights in Austrlia Tiger and Jetstar are the local budget providers, Qantas are all-inclusive and Virgin sit somewhere in the middle depending which tickets you purchase.

All are reliable and will get you from one place to the other pretty comfortably. In my experience, cancellations are rare.

Qantas and Virgin are full service airlines and are pretty much reliable, Jetstar and Tiger are low cost carriers and have very strict T&C's ... as long as you abide by them you shouldn't have too many problems. You can save a lot by booking ahead.

You don't say where you're flying to - and I daresay that it's unlikely to be a regional NSW destination - but just in case, there's also Regional Express (which I think is a very under-rated little airline!).

One of thee best sites to go to for fare comparisons is www.webjet.com but avoid paying their booking fees and book directly with the airlines.

Just a point to remember , when able says Jetstar and Tiger have very strict T&Cs, don't assume that Qantas and Virgin are lenient. They may be a bit more flexible in some areas but check in times and carry on weight restrictions are fairly rigorously enforced by all airlines in Australia.
