eventing/jumping in austalia

We will be travelling from Sydney to area somewhat near Bateman's Bay in March and our daughter is very interested in doing some riding. She is a very experienced rider and loves eventing. Any suggestions?

I'm unclear. Are you looking for trail rides? Or to watch eventing? Or both, and anything similar? I'm not sure, I could be wrong, but eventing is more a competition than a tourist attraction, don't you have to qualify and bring your own horse or arrange to borrow one, and so on?

Whereabouts near Batemans Bay? I know there is a course here in Canberra but whether anything is happening in March or whether you can access the facility privately I don't know. Trail rides should be easier to find, whether there's something satisfying for an experienced rider I don't know.

(If it were me I'd have considered a few days in the high country, Man From Snowy River and all that. I know there are trail riding companies up there and the scenery is beautiful. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=if9p1TnDvRY )

If you want to spectate, the eventing calender for NSW can be found here:

http://www.eventingnsw.com/

Couple of options in Canberra or Berrima, both in March. Scone and Albury have higher level classes but are a bit further away but both in march as well.

If you want to actually ride, as MacKnee suggested a trail ride operator may be the easiest option (and I'll add another vote for the high country)

Otherwise try contacting someone through EA (http://www.equestrian.org.au/).

To find establishments that conduct escorted trail rides, get on to the Yellow Pages. Www.yellowpages.com.au. In the 'what are you looking for' section enter 'horse riding', then enter the area where you are, ie Batemans Bay. Right in the centre of Sydney there are some very good equestrian establishments at CPEC (Centennial Park Equestrian Centre), and I think one of them still has escorted rides in Centennial Park. Check out the website: http://www.cpequestrian.com.au/.

The EA website is a good place to access information on riding instruction and events, but doesn't provide any information regarding trail riding establishments. If you are in the Newcastle area though your daughter is welcome to ride my horse.

our daughter is a very experienced rider and loves jumping and xcountry. She does eventing/xcountry here in Canada and would like to do some riding in Australia. She isn't a big fan of trail riding and I wouldn't be going on the trail with her.

Actually, we are going to be visiting a friend in Rosedale, NSW, but we also have a few spare days we could drive to someplace really interesting and she could ride and I could hike and do nature or culture related things. We want to avoid a traditional trail riding place given the quality (or lack there of) of riding we sometimes encounter.

Thanks. I'll look at the EA website. I did see the Centennial Park Centre. Perhaps I got the wrong impression, but it looked like a place to bring young children with not much experience riding.
