still working on a few days plans..

arriving in sydney on a saturday, planning on a few days days in the city, than a couple more in the countryside around it before heading to cairns - now looking for suggestions on what to see, or where to go in those extra couple countryside days - looking for the true aussie flavor...not sure if its in the hunter area or the blue mountains..is it possible to get taste of both as a sightseer...the 3 sisters view for a photo and a winery later...thanks for any and all ideas, johnn

how about hiring a car and driving(on the correct side of the road...lol) to the blue mountains for an overnight stay and then driving to the hunter valley for another overnight stay?

for true aussie flavour you'd need to stay in a pub.....some of the country pubs have real character!

I stayed in Sydney for 2 months and I'd say that for touristy highlights its really good to do the walk over the harbour bridge, a boat trip around the harbour and town and to also have a meal at the revolving restaurant at centre point.

Jervis Bay is also a lovely place to visit and also to go on fishing trips or dolphin cruises, it's about a 3 hour drive from Sydney although you may be able to get a train.

If you want to go shopping, check out Parramatta
