Palm Beach

Hi guys

Planning to visit Palm beach, mainly because I remember Home and Away as a good but also I hear it's a wonder beach.

Is the bus (L90?) fairly straightforward. CBD to the beach area, with the same number back?

Yes, it's easy to reach, but a long ride. It takes 90-120 minutes depending on time of day and traffic. There are a few stops at Palm Beach - you can get off at the wharf area (and catch the Palm Beach ferry out on Pittwater - the sheltered inland water way that is sometimes in the show). A few stops further at the very end of the route is at Palm Beach itself on the ocean side.

You can pick up the L90 at Railway Square (near Central Station), Town Hall, or Wynyard stations. If you catch it on a weekday you will need to have a prepaid ticket. You can buy tickets from the offices at Wynyard or QVB, or nearby newsagents and convenience stores. You will need a "MyBus 3" single ticket (get two to cover the return trip). Or, if you have a MyMulti ticket this will cover this journey.

The return is the same except you can pay cash if you didn't previously buy an extra ticket. The bus drops off at Wynyard then continues with stops at QVB/Town Hall, World Square and Railway Square.

Hope this helps.

If you head off early and spend the whole day there, there is much to see and do-

From the main surf beach you can walk through Governor Phillip Park to

The Boathouse Cafe http://www.theboathousepb.com.au with beautiful views and food.

Barrenjoey Boathire http://www.barrenjoeyboathire.com for kayaks, paddle boards, runabouts. Barrenjoey lighthouse …nsw.gov.au/Ku-ring-gai-Chase-National-Park/… a walking track takes you up for magnificent views.

And the ferry as recommended http://www.palmbeachferries.com.au Just visiting the websites is inspiring!

If you have a MyMulti ticket I would also suggest you hop off the bus at some of the intervening beaches like Collaroy. Another worthy hop off point is the iconic Newport Arms Hotel at Newport. You may never may it to Palm Beach if you manage to get yourself a table overlooking Pittwater :-))
