Famous Boat / Landmark in Sydney Harbour

Hello from England!

Bit of a strange one - a local radio station is running a competition, its called Where In The World?

Basically the radio station has set times to phone in, every 2 hours, youve got to be the lucky caller, then you get to ask questions that can only be answered by either a yes or a no, if the reply is Yes you get to ask another question to guess where in the world the tickets are. If you get the correct location you get to go to that destination.

Up to press we have narrowed it down to a landmark in Sydney Harbour, famous boat, has entertainment on board, it doesnt just port at Sydney.

Some guesses so far which are wrong:

Sydney Showboat Dinner Cruise

Queen Mary 2nd

Majestic.

Any suggestions guys? Your help would be most apprecaited, and should I win I will reward you financially.

Many thanks in advance

I hope you do win - if only because it occurred to you to ask on a travel forum. :)

Hopefully, someone will come along soon to help you out. I was going to say the South Steyne but that is moored at Darling Harbour.

Good luck.

Could it be cryptic clues?

i.e The Sydney Opera House.

Entertainment, Designed to look like "sails" of a boat. (I think it does anyway)

^^ That makes sense...and it's more well known than the South Steyne - lol.

I got hung up on the 'it doesnt just port at Sydney' clue. :)

Yeah that doesnt exactly fit, but neither does having a ship as a "landmark".

Just a guess, trying to think laterally.

Thanks for all your replies, it has narrowed even further - to a Captain Cook Cruise Ship - but not the endevour.

It is a cruise offered by Captain Cook Cruises but you have to specifity which boat!!! theres about 13!!

Well I'm guessing it's the Sydney 2000 Dinner Cruise because it fits all your criteria in addition to naming the specific boat used.

Although I do wish they would get rid of the 2000 tag...yes, Sydney did a great job of hosting the Olympics but it was nearly 8 years ago! Talk about reasting on past glory...

Sorry, but the Sydney 2000 has already being guessed wrongly.

There are several boats named John Cadman, excuse my ignornace, but who is he?

Don't worry about not knowing who John Cadman was, I'm sure the majority of sydney siders don't know either...

…nsw.gov.au/parks.nsf/ParkContent/N0201…

Basically a convict who became responsible for the government's boats.

As for your original question could it be Explorer? It is a boat run by captain cook cruises and can take overnight cruises which, I assume would mean going somewhere other than the harbour (not sure about that though).

Let us know the answer when you get it... good luck.

Given there is not an obvious answer from Captain Cook Cruises, another possible solution.

The Young Endeavour based in Sydney Harbour.

Seems to fit as many of your clues as any.

Thanks for all your help guys, but unfortunatley I didnt win, but not without a fight!

The tickets were on the Matilda III, one that I had ruled out early on as it does say Matilda Cruises on the side of the boat and not Captain Cook Cruises.

But the girl that won was over the moon and well deserving of it.

Maybe next time? ;-)
