Airport to Meriton Bondi Junction Apartments

We are visiting Sydney in April and have booked the Meriton Tiffany Bondi Apartments. It seems they are very central and situated above the train/bus terminal. We arrive at the airport at 7pm in the evening from the UK. Can anyone give advice on the best way to get to the apartments - is there a direct bus/train or are we better off getting a taxi? Any help would be appreciated!

Bob, i would suggest either a train or taxi, depending on the number of people travelling.

and yes the meriton apartments are directly above the train station and bus terminal.

the airport train would be about $12 each to bondi junction. you would need to change at central station and the total time would be about 30-40 minutes.

a taxi would cost around $30 but would be a bit quicker 20-30 minutes.

taxi obviously a bit more comfortable and no hassles of changing trains, etc, but it its just you travelling, a little cheaper.

bondi junction is central to a lot of things, about a 15 minute train ride to the city and surrounding areas like the rocks, darling harbour, opera house, etc. or a 15 minute bus ride down to bondi beach or bronte or a little further to coogee. also across the road is a big westfield shopping centre where my wife like to spend every last cent i earn.

There is a direct bus to Bondi Junc' Bob(No.400)cost $4-80 each...40 mins approx, but after 24 hours on a plane at that time of night that may be the last thing you want! The quickest ,but most expensive option is the above mentioned taxi($35-50)depending on how good your driver is at knowing his way around Sydney. The train won't be that much cheaper than the taxi and at that time of night could be a pain humping your baggage around, waiting on station platforms.Where you are staying is the epicenter to move and see Sydney from,as you are spoilt for transport and places to see in and around there! Do visit Watson's Bay(catch the bus below where you are staying...goes every 20 min's.Enjoy!

Excellent advice given above......just catch a taxi..7pm the traffic should be settled down from Peak time..the trains are a hassle with baggage.

Hiya Bob

As others have said, depends on how many of you there are,and how long it takes you to get through customs etc,so by the time you actually get out you are looking at 800pm.Taxi would be the safer bet(although dearer). There is the 400 route bus(if you lucky may get an accessable one and a seat)to Bondi interchange. Also there is 2 options on the train...either take it to Central or Town Hall then change to Bondi(cost about $12.00)or go the other way and take it to Wolli Creek, change to Bondi($6-7.00)

But as it will be dark and getting late and after a long haul flight id be going the taxi.

Thanks for all your advice everyone! A taxi it will be. As you all say, after a 24 hour flight buses and trains are a no brainer! Bondi Junction certainly sounds a great place to be for accessing transport to see Sydney. Any recommendations on places to go for trips would be greatly received but I'll put another posting nearer the time. Great to hear from you all. Thanks, Bob

^^^^^^^^^

Maxi taxi would be the cheapest by far, at around $45-50 (just ask at the taxi rank)

If you are intent on catching the train, get off at museum station, which is the first one after central and has an exit just 2 blocks from the hotel (town hall is an extra 10 mins ride unless you change trains at central)
