Sydney - 4 Nights Honeymoon

Hey all!!!

My wife (23) and I (26 yr old) will be honeymooning in Sydney for 4 nights and 5 days. We are staying at Star City Hotel & Apartments Deluxe Harbour View Room.

What do you guys recommend for us to do in the city and to get the most of it in a short little time.

This is going to be our first time in Sydney and before coming to Sydney we will spend 4 nights in Gold Coast.

Please give your suggestions for a honeymoon oriented trip.

Thank you so much for your time!!

What time of year will you be here & what are your interests?

I'd suggest having a read through the "top questions about Sydney" on the right hand side of this page to get you started.

I would suggest getting out on the harbour by ferry. Perhaps a destination such as Manly or Watson's Bay and then having lunch in one of those spots.

Bridge climb is very popular and very good.

Have dinner near the harbour many restaurants to choose from Aria, Quay, Cafe Sydney, Ripples etc.

Visit some of the great markets, Paddington Market held on Saturday has one of a kind crafts and unique clothing and hats by up and coming designers.

Shop at the Queen Victoria Building, beautifully renovated and worth seeing.

You don't have a lot of time but a day trip or one night at the Blue Mountains would be wonderful. Lilianfels is a lovely hotel right by the mountains.

Thank you all for your replies. We will be there in Jan 2010.

Please help with these:

- Attractions that we must see in Sydney in 4 days.

- Where is the best place to see Australian animals. We dont want to spend all day but just 2-4 hours in a zoo or something.

- Where are nice lunches and romantic dinners

- Where can we take scenic walks

- We absolutely love party atmosphere. So any places (streets / beaches) where we could just take walks and alot is going on and the crowd is in the mood.

Before getting to Sydney we will be on a 5 day cruise. Is ferry going to be any special?

Thank you again!!!

Taronga zoo is the best place to see the kangaroos and koalas. Take the ferry, it's a beautiful harbour, different from being on a cruise ship, to Taronga zoo. You can do the bus but why would you want to when you can be out and about on a beautiful sunny day in one of the most beautiful harbours in the world.

See my previous post for restaurants and things to do. Opera bar is a good spot for lunch with a view.

Try some surf lessons at Manly beach. Can do private or group lessons.

You must go to the Astral Dining Room at the casino itself. Fantastic.

For shopping - The Strand Arcade and the Queen Victoria Building, visit to Darling Harbour, The Rocks, Circular Quay, Botanic Gardens. Taronga Zoo is still the best place to visit for animals and will give you an insight into one of the most beautiful places in all of Sydney. If you have a Saturday to spare - spend the morning at the markets in either Paddinton or Balmain.

There are plenty of walks you can take...catch a ferry to Watsons Bay & walk around the gap, the Bondi to Coogee or Bronte walk is also recommended.

I know you have just been on a cruise. Can I suggest a trip to Manly on the ferry as it is the longest ferry trip, so you will see a lot of the harbour, then morning tea or early lunch on the Corso, or if energetic and to time available walk along the beach to either fariy bower, shelley beach or in the other direction to North Steyne for lunch.

If you are feeling a bit homesick, I assume they have Ben and Jerry Icecream in Toronto, Manly has Australia's only store, just on the espanade one block towards shelley beach.

then you could either return to sydney or combine the day and be adventurous, buy a bus ticket to Spit Junction and catch the bus down to Taronga Zoo. the bus arrives at the top of the hill and you then walk down seeing what animals you wish to the bottom and catch the ferry back to Circular Quay, a fairly short trip but you get to see more of the Sydney Harbour Bridge from the harbour itself.

other things to do, is just walk around Darling Harbour. they also have an animal world which is more touristy and obviously has Australian animals. it is right next door to the Aquarium, which you might also enjoy. the restaurant precinct that is past this point, might also be something you would enjoy for dining and nightime.

there are lots of good bars, but not my scene, but as most of us are on holidays depending on what part of January you are here, you should have no problems finding excitement and night life. You are also here in our festival month so there should be ample things happening around town. there are movies in the botanical gardens , though they might be filled up, and concerts etc. check out the festival website to see what is on, and where during your time here. http://www.sydneyfestival.org.au/2010/

good luck

Hi,

Excellent advice already given - just to add some romantic dinners.

* Quay - (make sure a cruise ship is not docked)

* Ripples Milsons Point - catch the ferry over from Circular Quay.

* Aria - Circular Quay

* Cafe Sydney - Circular Quay
