Doyles Watsons Bay ... any good?

I wandered of topic on another thread. (i'd only had a couple... honest)

Was told thatwasn't the thing to do and it was suggested I start a new thread.

So what is your opinion of the above?

Hi

It's a great spot on the Harbour with average food.

To get the ambience, can you just share a lemonade?

Great spot, but overpriced, and the food sure is average.

Fish and chips from the wharf is a much better deal. You can sit on the beach in front of Doyles.

Take Margo's advice and grab a prawn roll form the take -away on the wharf.

The Fish & Chips (& Calamari) from Doyles takeaway (menu given by Jodi above) was quite nice when I I ate there a few months ago. As well as outdoor tables there is an indoor eating area with quite a nice view. We were there on a week day, so it was pretty quiet, I'd imagine weekends would be very busy.

The seating area for the take-away also has a licensed bar, serves coffee etc. I had a better Sand Whiting, chips & salad for $14.90 there than the same for $41 at Doyles on the Beach a month or so prior.

As others have said, try for a table at the front and you'll have the same great harbour views as "Big Doyles".

I like the Watsons Bay Hotel for a casual meal, too. The upstairs terrace has fabulous views and the food is better than average for the price. Not fiine dining by any stretch - nor does it pretend to be - but nice casual spot.

Great location, very ordinary food and service, Dont rate in my top 20 Sydney seafood restaurants.

Try Fish at the Rocks, Flying Fish, Nicks Cockle Bay, Wildfire, Bathers, etc...

We went to Watsons Bay Bay on our trip. Went on the fast ferry from Circ Quay which was great. We hadn't intended to go to Doyles which was virtualy empty, and had a snack at the Watsons Bay Hotel, which was fine.
