Cab or Train?

Hi all

A group of 3 of us (3 luggages and 3 small backpacks) will be arriving in sydney for a wk holiday on Sat (23 Apr) at approx 10am. I believe we will be leaving the airport at about 11am/11.30am to head into the city.

Would you all recommend a train or getting a cab (both cost and convenience wise)? Would like to know how long does it take to get a train & a cab to our hotel from the airport as well.

We will be heading to Travelodge Sydney (27 Wentworth Ave).

Any advise will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!!

Hi lien

Thanks for your help.

Can I check if there is any tolls to add to the above amt for the taxi?

Also, is the trip by cab 20mins? or its approx the same for both bus and taxi?

Would we get stuck in any kind of heavy traffic at about 11am?

Hi Peacex.

Saturday 23 April is Easter Saturday, in the middle of the Easter public holidays. Thankfully, as it's also school holidays, the Saturday morning traffic that is caused by parents driving their children to and from weekend sporting activities will be reduced. And a lot of Sydneysiders will be away on holidays. So I think you'd find the traffic to be OK, and the trip time would be about the same by train or taxi.

You can get to the city without using a toll road - tell the taxi driver you do NOT want to use the Eastern Distributor, which is the toll road.

Peacex, insist that the cab take u using the redfern route. No tolls but more traffic lights. But still cheaper

Agree with Shazam above. Ask to be taken to city by going through Redfern.

Taxi will be much cheaper ~$30 depending on traffice (inc. $3 airport toll which will be added on at end of journey) in total and more convenient. You may have a small wait at the rank at the airport but otherwise cheaper and easier than train.
