What to wear in August?

Hi

So I gather its Sydneys winter in August... does this mean jeans and hoody weather?

Yes. August tends not to be as cold as July, but it's still cold - to Sydneysiders - and tends to be the windiest month of Sydney's winter. It can start warming up (just a tad) towards the end of the month.

Yes generally speaking & more so if it's windy as it often is. The "feels like" temp can be considerably lower, particularly off the water. Later in the month we can start getting warmer days (low 20's celcius), so my advice would be to bring clothing you can layer.

Ok, thanks, we are going to Cairns too! So will need to bring a variety of clothes! Cant wait.
