Nursing baby on the go???

Hi I will be travelling with my 6 month old baby to Sydney in jan 2nd week..I am there for 2 days and intend to see darling harbour, opera house, Chinatown, bondi beach

Just concerned where can I feed my baby on the go?? Is Sydney Breastfeeding friendly?? Anybody experienced this?? What mode of transport did you prefer with an infant?? Is city rail doable with a baby?? thanks

Sydney is breastfeeding friendly, but you should exercise a degree of modesty, a light wrap over your shoulder and your baby will really be all you might need. You will see many babies having lunch this way :-)

All shopping centres have parents (mums & dads are ok) rooms (for changing) and the better ones have comfortable chairs etc in there for mums to breast feed.

If you have a sling type carrier you'll find trains easier than carting a stroller round (many stations have stairs but not all have lifts).

Since you're from a very hot climate you'll understand the need for sunscreen & hat for your little one

enjoy Sydney

The ABA (Australian breastfeeding assoc) has a website with info and also lists breastfeeding friendly places. Public breastfeeding is much more common than it used to be and you should have no problem anywhere. I agree a sling or carrier would make things much easier to get around with a baby.

I don't think you'll have many issues - it's not uncommon to see nursing mothers with a lightweight wrap over their shoulder.

I don't know anyone who would be upset or concerned about a baby having a feed and they certainly wouldn't give a second thought about it.
