Getting to Travelodge Wentwoth Ave from Airport

Hi

Staying at the above Travelodge in 3 weeks time, can you advise the best way to get there from the airport, I see the shuttle services don't get the best reviews. Is the train an easy option or how much approx would a taxi be??

Thanks for your help

The Travelodge in Wentworth Ave is pretty close to Museum Station where you can get a train to the airport (look for the "plane" symbol on the indicator boards as well as "Domestic" or "International").

Museum Station is located at the cnr of Elizabeth and Liverpool Streets.

Central Station is a little further away but still walkable from where you are staying.

The train will take around 15 mins to the airport and will cost around $15-16 pp one way. A taxi may take a similar time but will cost more than $15-16.

Hi melabroad.

The cost of a taxi from the airport depends on the day of the week and time of day you're arriving. Early on Saturday or Sunday morning or later in the evening, it may not be much over $30. In the morning and afternoon/evening weekday peaks it could end up more like $40-$50.

A taxi shared by 2 or 3 could end up cheaper and more convenient than the one way train fares ($15.40 per person from Domestic, $16.20 from International).

Another thing to bear in mind about Museum station is that is has no lifts, so you have to negotiate a number of stairs and passageways to bring you out to Liverpool Street. If you're towing large suitcases, or have mobility issues, it can be a bit of a pain.

Safe travels.

That's true, I forgot about the stairs Aussie_Cygnet.

If the OP wants to go by train and use lifts (elevators) rather than stairs, Central or Town Hall Station are the best bets.

Depending on luggage is the issue - it is a fair walk from Central Railway to the Travelodge and I would not want to be lugging luggage including hand luggage that distance.

Two people in a taxi as against two on a train - a couple of coffees the difference. Better than the hassle especially if raining.

The walk from Central station is not that bad. It is a straight and level walk along Elizabeth St with a short rise up Wentworth Ave.

The steps at Museum station are an issue with luggage although it is a downhill walk to the hotel.
