Traffic going north in June school holidays

I'm thinking of driving to Port Macquarie for the first week of the school holidays, leaving Sydney on Saturday June 30 (School finishes the day before). I know that the freeway traffic is shocking at Christmas and Easter, but wondering if it is as bad in the winter. Is there anyone who knows? Thank you.

June no issue, too cold to go that short distance, most head to tropical climes

it can be a bit clogged due to the normal Nth coast hunter valley shuffle

It should be okay in June on a Saturday - Friday nights can sometimes be hectic.

Perhaps you could also consider taking the road less travelled. Sydney to Port is typically a half day drive, if you extend it out and make a day of it you can take the scenic routes up via Gloucester etc. I have never had that route clogged even at peak periods. IMHO first or last day of any school holiday period is risky. After all, people travel up past Port to get to the theme parks in Qld too.
