Not sure what you are asking? Exchange rates are fixed from day to day. The variance from one place to another is so small that unless you are exchanging huge amounts of money (in which case you probably wouldn't be asking for advice on this forum) that it hardly makes a difference - a few dollars at the most. It's not the exchange rates you should be worrying about - its the extortionate fees that some companies and travel cards charge.

Hi,

I certainly agree with what evamelb has sais and would add the following: You generally obtain the best deal at banks and the worst at airport exchangers.

The other "trap" is with some cards that claim not to charge you fees on OS transactions, (true), but then charge a premium % on top of the exchange rate!

Heads "they" win tails you loose.

Cheers,

I always use the money exchange comparison tool on moneysavingexpert.com which also indicates whether there's any fee involved.

Thank you GEGLondon - will load that x

Just got a Quidity card from Halifax that does not charge for OS transactions - will look for an exchange item that notifies the daily rate - just trying to judge when best to get some cash as we dont travel til November x

Thanks for the replies

Jan
