Sydney Hotels - 6 July 2013

Hi all,

Your insights greatly appreciated.

Been trying to book ahead for 6/7/13 for an overnight 3/4 star stay in Haymarket/Chinatown/Hyde Park area. Been struck by how astronomically high prices 4....checked Hotelclub, Agoda (Wotif didnt allow bookings that far ahead). Question is why is it so $$$ - is it cos its still 2 far ahead, or cos its Friday & school holidays? Can anyone tell when is best time 2 book for July 2013 or pretty much get on mailing lists from usual suspects and pounce on right offer?

Budget < 150.

Location Haymarket.

Meriton Campbell St is ideal but not paying 260+++ for it.

Capital Square - last resort....rooms r quite errgh...

Backpackers thanks but no thanks.

Thanks in advance.

I think it's too early as well. From what I saw, 6th July, 2013 is a Saturday night and not a Friday, so expect prices to be higher. Saturday nights are shocking in Sydney - Not good for people staying on a modest budget at all, but yet are not seeking hostel or very basic accommodation either.

Just over your budget range, but, have you considered Hotel Stellar? They have a studio on www.booking.com/ going for $158 on the 6th July, 2013.

Are your dates fixed shazam? Unfortunately with the Lions match scheduled for 6th July that w/end will be tricky. Tour groups + individuals have booked already. We've had quite a few enquiries here on TA, particulary about apartments. Saturday nights are heavily booked year round & prices at most places tend to be jacked up.

I would contact hotels in the area you are after direct. Try Vibe & Hyde Park Inn

Guys.

Thanks all. Must b the footy+school hols+weekend then! Actually got dates a bit wrong...its 5 July...not a lot off diff...

Unfortunately date cannot b changed as cruise leaves 6 July. Was thinking of spending 1 night b4 we leave, otherwise will catch redeye on 6th July itself.

@arisa, thanks, will look at Stellar.

@DougoOz,

OPT. Hotel should be near 555 route as taking bus down to CQ n walking to OPT from there.

@Ellemay
