View of harbour bridge from Milsons point

Hi,

We would like to cross the harbour bridge by public transport, by train and by bus back.

Do we take the train from Circular Quay to Milsons point, & what bus no. should we take from Milsons Point back to Circular Quay?

Also, is there any nice viewing area near Milsons Point to view the other side of the bridge?

Thanks!

If you get on the train at Circular Quay you will need to change trains somewhere on the City Circle to get a northbound train. Alternatively you can get a train from Wynyard direct across to Milsons Point. To get a good view of the western side of the Bridge I suggest you get the train to North Sydney and a bus/taxi to Blues Point which gives an excellent view from the west. IMO getting the bus back to the city is not much of a thrill, you can walk on the eastern walkway of the bridge, at road level. To do this start from Milsons Point and you exit into The Rocks area on the southern side of the bridge.

Ferry from Circular Quay to Milsons Point (Luna Park) or Jeffrey St (east side of bridge).

Walk around then either ferry or train back to the city. Train goes from Milsons Point to Wynyard (1 stop).

Have a look at the public transport Journey Planner online to plan your trips.

Easiest to catch the train to Milsons Point and get off there and walk back on the eastern side for good views and a 'feel' for the bridge. There is no bus from Milsons Point across the Bridge. The train trip on the bridge is only about a minute (if that).

From Milsons Point you can walk down towards the harbour and look up at the pylons and bridge work.

Another good view is from North Sydney swimming pool, on the western (away from the city) side of the bridge. You get a great view of the Opera House framed by the bridge.

I wouldn't recommend the train or bus, but agree with others that the ferry to Milsons Point and have a nice drink or lunch there. I would also recommend walking up the south pylon and looking at the memorabilia and view and then walking part of the way over. Lou

Balls head accesible from Waverton station (one past Nth Syd, two from M Pt) is another excellent vantage point.

Walking back to the city is the best idea from M Pt, but if you really must bus its a walk up to Nth Sydney station for a bus going to city - I would do both directions by ferry ahead of any bus ride.

An alternative suggestion, Cockatoo island, great views back to city/bridge, and an interesting historic/scenic spot to explore.
