Hi there

Would generally depend on the time of day as you may be battling traffic, however it shouldn't be more than $30.

International or domestic?

I'd say you're looking at closer to $35-40 to domestic, and $45-50 for international.

What day of the week and what time of day?

It makes a difference both in best routes to take and cost of the cab.

KVE are you guessing or basing it on personal experience ?

I've taxi'd from Airport to CBD hotels multiple times this year inb peak hour and non peak hour and its been under $30 each time.

Jus checked my chits from last week :

Dom airport - Kent st 20/ 3 20:41 $49.50

Wynyard - Dom airport 22/3 4.18 $53.46

These seem pretty consistent with what I normally pay. A lot of my colleagues catch the train which is a lot cheaper and pretty easy too - I need to get more organized :-/

I can't see how it can be under $30 from the International Terminal to Kent St (Assuming the OP is coming from Canada)

In the best of all world's with no traffic and avoiding the ED, it's 12.8 km from the International terminal to Kent St. At $2.14/km + $3.50 flag-fall + $3.50 airport fee, that comes to $34.39 - and that assumes no red lights or traffic holdups. I'd have to agree that $45ish is closer to the mark - and that's about what I pay when I can't be bothered taking the train.

No I just pulled a number out of a hat.

I'm with Eva all the way on this one, she's got the stats down pat.

Just pulled out my reciepts for past few trips this year where I stayed at a mix of hotels up at Central Stn end, Pyrmont and The Rocks. Only one is over $30 - its $31.49. All others are just under $30.

Only one was mid evening, rest were trips around lunch time and late afternoon and one mid morning just after peak hour.

I'm quoting for domestic to CBD (as the OP didnt specify).

Wow thanks for all the feedback. I didn't realize the domestic or international would make a difference...Arriving from Canada on Sunday morning around 8h30am. Forgot to also ask another question: Are all taxis equipped to take credit cards ? Would I be better off using an ATM at the airport before grabbing a cab ride ?

Thanks everyone, much appreciated !
