Darling harbour

I've tried researching this myself but I'm confused. How do you get across Darling Harbour to The Star and Hard Rock Cafe? I will be staying in The Rocks. Do you cross the Pyrmont Bridge? Is this only open certain times of day? I will be going over mid - late afternoon and returning early evening. I don't have a car. Thank you.

Yes, cross Pyrmont Bridge. It's a footbridge now. No cars.

You can go the nice way and get a ferry from Circular Quay to Darling Harbour

You can walk- long way

Bus up George Street or around . You can walk over the Pyrmont Bridge -it doesnt open that much . Or you can walk around the actual foreshore to get to the other side as well. Its not just the bridge that connects the city to the other side of Darling Harbour.

As suggested above, you can catch the ferry, walk across the Pyrmont Bridge, or catch the 443 bus from Circular Quay to the Maritime Museum - which is located at the corner of Murray & Union St.

Beside the above mentioned corner is the Harbourside Complex, and the Hard Rock is on far end of level 2.

From the above mentioned corner, walk two blocks up Union St to the Star.

It really isn't all that exciting and it gets crowded. You hope that it's not too hot as there's little to no shade except for under the old monorail track.

This is a better link for bridge openings. The bridge is operated by the Sydney Harbour Foreshore Authority, and does open at odd times depending on what is happening.
