Tons. Where will you be staying at ?

Check out the Oxford Art Factory on Oxford street.

The Annandale Hotel is a great pub, but it's not in the city center. Scruffy Murphy's can get very loud on Tuesdays. Every inner suburb has venues with rock bands playing on random nights, so it depends where you're staying at...

Manning Bar at Sydney Uni, Beach Road Hotel in Bondi etc

Sydney used to have a great live music scene but died up until recently where its made a return. Most pubs and clubs have some type of music entertainment at night. Some good ideas as was said, also try Newtown at the Malbourough Hotel,or even the Marble Bar at the Hilton used to crank it with some good bands once upon a time. The daily paper here also has a live gig guide for weekends
