Getting around Sydney for the elderly

I am taking my 90 year old mother to Sydney for a few days following a cruise. She has restricted mobility but lots of determination and wants to see all the things she saw in her younger days. I am wanting advise on:

the feasibility of using the Hop on Hop Off bus as it visits most places on her list

A hotel/apartment adjacent to a HOHO bus stop

Alternatively a hotel/apartment adjacent to a ferry stop

Grateful for any advise

There is is free route 555 bus that runs up and down George Street from Circular Quay to Railway Square.

Then there is the Sydney Explorer buses (one does Sydney and one does Bondi and Bays) which you need a ticket. The Sydney route has 26 stops so should be close to hotel depending on your budget. Hotels near stop 1 (Alfred St/Pitt St) would be Four Seasons, Sydney Harbour Marriott, stop 18 (The Star Hotel/Casino) plus there others. Stop 1 is also close to ferries.

This link has the route and stops theaustralianexplorer.com.au/brochures/Sydne…

I would not necessarily recommend the free 555 bus for an elderly person. I have waited at the departure point at Circular Quay and had to let 5 buses go as they were crowded - standing room only and our two elderly friends with arthritis would not have been able to sit down.

I've also been on the 555 a few times where I could only liken it to being in a washing machine ... I'd recommend the explorer bus as the first option in this instance
