State of Origin Visit

Hi there,

Were staying in Kings Cross Ibis for 3 nights visiting Sydney for the State of Origin.

We are aware of the dealings of the district. Despite this, are there any recommended cafes, restaurants around the area. If not, are there perhaps any bars closer to Homebush or any pre-events before the game on Wednesday.

We've visited Sydney a couple of times so we have been to the Opera House, Bondi, and the tourist sites. Are there any other places/things we should visit taking into account we will be using Public Transport.

If you could give us any tips/recommendations of what to see and do that would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks, in advance :)

There will be lots of trains & buses out to the stadium. Have a look at the 131500 website.

The Cross,Potts Point & Darlinghurst/Surry Hills are packed with restaurants of every cuisine &'pricepoint. Urbanspoon is a good place to check out a few. Personal favourites include Mrs Topp (French), Fratelli (Italian ) MacLeay street Bistro. In Riley street, Red Lily (Vietnamese).

With about 80,000 people attending the game then any bar near the stadium will be packed (or just totally overwhelmed with demand). But maybe go out a bit earlier to 'feel' the atmosphere but don't plan on eating/drinking without a long wait in a queue.

Train is probably the best to get there but there will be a wait after the game (due to the crowd leaving). Your ticket includes public transport to/from the game.
