Sydney surprise trip

I am taking my partner for his 30th to Sydney for his birthday as a surprise and was looking at a dinner cruise but I see alot of people find them poor quality and over priced for what they are. I see some of them have shows etc. if not a dinner cruise is there anything dinner&show similar in Sydney we can go to instead??

I am also looking for a great place to stay location wise. Doesn't have to be fancy but close to all the tourist stuff as we are only going to be in Sydney for 3 days. I hear the Travel lodge is fair good for price and location??

Any replies or suggestions are welcome?

I'm of zero help when it comes to shows, but with your accommodation, yes Travelodge Wynyard is often excellent value for money and brilliant location. If you wish for comparisons to other properties, perhaps you could give an indication of your approximate nightly budget, and your travel dates.

Hi,

As mentioned by KVE what is your budget & what month are you planning to do this ??

Travel lodge is in a fab location however there are others available too if we know your budget.

The Basement has dinner & show.

As far as shows, you can't beat an opera performance or symphony concert, in the world famous Sydney Opera House! There are also various plays and other events in the smaller venues at the Opera House. There are many nice restaurants near Circular Quay that have early dinner hours to go nicely with an 8pm performance - definitely look at the Opera House calendar for the time of your visit, and book your tickets early.

There are several other theatres in Sydney - State Theatre, Capitol Theatre, and Lyric Theatre (in the Star Casino) which often have highly rated musicals playing. Again check the calendars. Sure, they don't have dinner attached to them but there will always be plenty of restaurants nearby.

Thanks guys. We are travelling the beginning of October. I was hoping to keep accommodation under $500 for the 2 nights. Decided to stay at the Zoo sleepover for our last night :) looking forward to that!

If anyone knows if any hidden must see gems I'm keen to hear about them as well. I saw ghost tours the other day that looked interesting?

Beginning as in the 3rd and 4th October by any chance?

If you are coming on the long weekend, there are good value properties to be had - *IF* you book early. The rates are already starting to increase (double the rate of the weekend prior already), so I wouldn't sit on it too long. And if the dates are later, it'll coincide with sporting grand finals.

The Grace is looking brilliant at $208/$297 for those dates (if applicable)
