Lunch with a view to die for, is J Olivers really that bad

Want to go to lunch at a lovely place with a huge view of the harbour, suggestion welcome, price range between $$$ and $$$$, three $$$ would suit the budget better but would extend to $$$$ if it was exceptional.

on another note

Is Jamie Olivers restaurant really that bad

I have read the reviews and not liking what I read

hit and miss

Cafe sydney. But when are you here? May be too late to ensure a front seat

Park Hyatt has great views, too. Food is good.

Jamie Oliver's doesn't have a view - unless you mean facing Pitt St

Reviews some reviews should be taken with a bucket of Dead Sea - like the first one who claims he can cook better than Jamie Oliver

Hi,

My two cents worth:

Catalina’s

Bathers Pavilion

Doyle’s

Icebergs (Beach not harbour views)

Cheers,

Just as a heads up doyles at the Quay is currently closed due to the OPT work.

Oh… and no bridge view from the Dining Room at Park Hyatt (but the food IMHO is better than cafe sydney)

aqua is a great choice, if there in summer though check no swim carnivals are on

I was at Cafe Sydney recently ( not my choice) and still think it's overpriced, pretty ordinary food & service.

Yes, the view is great if you're in right spot in the front two rows & there isn't a floating block of flats at the OPT.

Sails at McMahons Point has the view, but it's quite a while since I was there, so can't comment on the food. And it was ok but not memorable then. Easy access though - just take a ferry.

Aqua Dining was very good indeed last Wednesday.

Quay used to be stellar & has great OH views (+ bridge from the top), but recent comments suggest that the plot may have gone walkabout.

Presume you mean Jamie's Pasta in Pitt Street. Definitely no views there - a long narrow room with crowded mezzanine. Very busy, very noisy with echo and mainly no booking so queue's can be awful. I think it is a franchise - so he has just concocted menu and given his name to it. That said, have had a couple of ok meals there. But Sydney has better options.
