Transiting in Sydney Airport Terminal 1

me and my wife will be transiting sydney airport terminal 1 on our way to singapore. we are from new zealand and we will be flying with qantas from wellington to sydney and scoot airlines from sydney to singapore. our layover in sydney is only 5 hours, do we need a transit visa for us to check in on our scoot airlines flight? :-)

It looks like you'll need to be sure that your luggage is being booked right through to Singapore from wellington. If you need to collect it and then go outside into the departure lounge to re-check it, yes you will need a transit visa. Ring and check with Qantas, is it a codeshare, all on the same ticket?

If you hold NZ passports you don't need a visa at all. If your passport is from anywhere else you will need a transit visa as you need to come landslide to check in with Scoot.

thanks for the info guys, i think we really need a transit visa as we booked the flght separately. we are holding a Philippine passport.
