blue mtns self drive trip

from an earlier thread here from rick the emt, sounds like the few days we are planning out of sydney in early nov., will be heading out of town on a tuesday for a couple days out of town, in the blue mtns, hunter valley if we can fit it in - than flying out friday @10:00am to cairns - sounds like best might be to train out to somewhere than rent a car there - anyway to get a chance to see the 3sisters and taste the hunter valley wines in those couple days, than take an early train friday to the airport from way out there, or take that train late thursday evening to somwhere close to the airport and fly out next day - thanks for any input, john

'take that train late thursday evening to somwhere close to the airport and fly out next day' - this would be a better option as your flight leaves at 10 am - this way you're already near the airport/in sydney area.

check out this site http://www.visitnsw.com.au/ for ideas of where to go around sydney. get an idea of where the blue mountains is in relation to the hunter valley. the hunter valley is two hours drive north of sydney. the blue mountains are 1.5 hours west of sydney.
