Just wondering if the William Ricketts sculptures are still at Pitchi Richi?

The William Rixketts Sanctuary is in Mt Dandenong, Victoria.

Yes it is still open, but give them a call before you visit. There was some damage from a storm earlier in the year and it was closed for repairs. The Samctuary is closed in bad weather/ high winds.

Sorry Sunny, hit "submit" too early.

I've not been to the Pitchi Richi bird sanctuary, but found an article online from January 2012 that said some of his statues were there. There had been some concern some years ago about ongoing funding when it had smissed out on heritage listing, but seems to have survived.

I couldn't find a link to it, but perhaps the Alice Sprimgs Tourist Centre could give you up to date info.

It's in Alice at Heavitree Gap. I think the statues are still there, but the place is very run down. However I have a contact in Alice and will get an update.

Remember visiting many years ago..it's a pity if it's been left to run down.

Making the trip back to Alice this November, would love to revisit to see the sculptures.

And yes, there is a Pichi Richi in South Australia in the Flinders Ranges

Pitchi Ritchi in Alice Springs is currently under the management of Heritage Alice Springs (who also manage "the Residency", which is the government house in the centre of town). They have had it for a few years now and are endeavouring to raise money to help return it to it's former state before they can open it. There is currently a caretaker who is steadily working on the place but it's enormous and will take much more work. It will certainly be at least another few years before it could reopen, but rest assured there are people in Alice Springs working hard to get that done.

And yes, the statues are still there and some can be seen through the fence. :)
