Brisbaine to Airlie Beach

Just wondering how possible it would be to take a bus/drive to Airlie Beach from Brisbaine-want to see the Whitsundays and also do some snorkling. How long a drive would that be? thanks!

Airlie Beach is approximately 1100km (685 miles) from Brisbane. You could do this trip in a number of ways:

1. Plane

Jetstar and Virgin Blue fly to Proserpine airport (sometimes called the Whitsunday Coast airport). The flight takes 1.5 hours. You can get a coach connection from the airport. You also have the option of flying into Hamilton Island (with Qantas and Jetstar) and getting the ferry back to Airlie Beach.

2. Car

Minimum of 2 days drive (not stopping along the way).

3. Bus

Greyhound takes about 19 hours to get there. If you can handle being in a bus seat for 19 hours.

4. Train

The Tilt Train runs every Monday and Friday and takes 14.5 hours to reach Airlie Beach (with a coach connection).

If you're not planning on stopping along the way, fly.

You can check prices here for all of the various airlines, but it's usually best to book with the airlines directly.
