Rainbow beach? It's about 4 hours north of Brisbane. Turn off at Gympie.

The two obvious choices would be Rainbow Beach or Bargara. Similar in many respects to 1770 but not as far.

Fraser Island blocks the mianland for much of the area in this region so the mainland beaches dont get surf and may not be as pretty. Harvey Bay is also an option or indeed Fraser Island itself, but you will need 4wds to traverse it and accomodation options are limited.

Just got back from Rainbow Beach - lovely spot. There's also the dolphins just down the road at Tin Can Bay for the kids too.

I stayed at Rainbow Shores Resort. Review should be posted soon, but I wouldn't recommend it. There's a few other options right in the township though, including a caravan/camping park.

Rainbow Sea Resort is nice http://www.rainbowsea.com.au/index.html and only a few years old. The apartments are modern and well appointed and the views across the bay to Fraser are stunning. Perfect for a getaway.

Hi Nellie

I agree with Rainbow Beach and it's not too far a drive from Buderim.
