Motorhome hire from Brisbane and back for 13 days

I am flying over to Sydney on 31st December 2013 with my husband and we are spending four nights in the city. We are then flying to Brisbane and out to Longreach to meet up with family and friends for 9 days. We then fly back to Brisbane and pick up a motorhome for 13 days before spending our last 3 days in Brisbane city. Where shall we drive whilst we have a motorhome to see the most and best sites/resourts and how/where should we pre book our stopovers.

You could head North and probably get up to Hervey Bay before needing to head back, or you could head south and see Gold Coast, Byron Bay, Ballina etc. BUT you are visiting in the busiest holiday time of the year, when everyone is on holiday and everyone heads to the beach. Most places that are worth staying would be booked out, and you can't just pull up on the side of the road and free camp as its illegal in most places. Your itinerary will probably be dictated by where you can find accommodation, I'd be ringing around some camper parks and seeing if they have any availability before deciding where to head.

Hi Carol, the above advice is pretty spot on. One option you could explore is if you were to head south, rather than stay at Kingscliff or Pottsville, where you won't get a site, try finding a site slightly inland such as Murwillumbah and doing day trips to explore the area. Its possible to do this all the way down the coast. Then head back to Brisbane via The New England Hwy. Hope this helps

13 days to drive "anywhere" ... that's a big question.

You could drive up to Toowoomba and through the granite belt to Byron Bay and back up to Brisbane ... granitebeltwinecountry.com.au/pages/stanthor…

You could head north to Noosa and the Hinterland and maybe Frazer Island ... http://www.visitnoosa.com.au/

Or you could drive all the way to Coffs Harbour and back up the New England hwy ... the possibilities are endless. If you gave us some interests or hints?
