A fun restaurant for a group - not too fancy

Looking for a restaurant to celebrate a fun birthday with about 8 people - I would love to find a special place to make this birthday memorable (not touristy)

Any particular cuisine? Or an area could help?

I'm pretty open. I would prefer an Australian vibe. Local cuisine. Coming from the US. As far as area...I don't know enough to guess. It's our first time to Brisbane. A fun area would be great!

I would be looking around West End for a night out .... loads of different restaurants and bars/pubs to choose from. If you have a look at the link you'll get an idea of what we all eat, which is pretty varied. I am not sure what Australian cuisine is apart from Asian fusion, it's a constant debate.

Next Door Kitchen Bar or Ole or ahmets at southbank. Riverbar or Mr and Mrs G or Blackbird at riverside. Greek Taverna or Yiros at westend. Pretty much anywhere at southbank, westend or riverside.

Just heard from Ahmets - they will be undergoing renovations at that time - back to the search! I liked the feel that Ahmets seemed to have. We are a casual bunch and though there are many restaurants that look fantastic we want that laid back feel. So…..?

Most Australian restaurants are pretty laid back ... if you are looking for great Greek food and a good atmosphere without the belly-dancing have a look at Char Char Yiros. Make sure you book though.
