Mount Coot-tha Lookout and Brisbane Botanic Gardens

Dear all

How do I get to Mount Coot-tha Lookout from Hotel Ibis at city centre? Is it walking distance from Brisbane Botanic Gardens?

I plan to visit the Mount Coot-tha Lookout at night for the city lights, can I walk back to the hotel after that?

Any must-try food in the cafe at the Lookout?

Thank you in advance!

From your hotel it is defiantly not walking distance (about an 1hr walk) or a 10min drive. I would catch a cab if you don't have access to a car. Public transport is not that great, but if your flexible that is also an option. Walking between the botanic gardens to Mt Coo-tha is also not a good idea but there is regular buses that go between the two.

Something to consider may be going at sunset have dinner then it should be night by the time you are ready to leave.

The lookout is amazing. Food is slightly pricey but not too bad for the serving and quantity that you get.

There is a bus service for Mt Cootha but it ends late afternoon ... the only way to get there is to drive, so you would have to get a taxi. It's just over 9 KMs and would cost around $27 each way.

Yes, it doesn't look that far on Google Maps does it!

You might find the translink website very helpful (and fairly simple to use) for your holiday. From what I can see the maxiumum fare would be $6.10 and the time table runs until well into the evening - considering our sunset is around 5.30pm (currently in Winter).

Here is a travel journey I tried for you: …translink.com.au/travel-information/journey…

Thank you all!

It did looked quite 'walking distance' to me on the map initially.. Hehe...

My itinerary on that day

Brisbane city botanic gardens,

Then walk to southbank parklands

Then up to Mount Coot Tha for sunset and dinner

Will take cab back to Ibis hotel at night.

What do you think?

Would there be a city sight bus from southbank up to Mt Coot Tha?

I tried the website TN007 to search for journey from south bank to Mount Coot Tha, but there was an error and I was advised to take cab.. Haha...

There is really no reason to take the City Sights bus unless you are doing the whole tour ... it's $35 per person so not really worth it just to get up the mountain. http://www.citysights.com.au/

Just catch the last regular 471 bus in the city at 4:30 ... …translink.com.au/travel-information/network…

City Sights tour is $35 a person and you can get on an off where you like on the day - it does go up to Mt Cootha around 4.30 but depends on when you get on the bus.... see the timetable: http://www.citysights.com.au/

Also see the options here: …qld.gov.au/facilities-recreation/parks-venu…

It is beautiful by night so enjoy your view - but it does get a little colder there so take a scarf/jumper.
