Hi Guys,

HAve booked a "2nd time round" honeymoon from 14 Mar 08 for 7 nights. Did some homework & came up with Sea Change apartments.

Now looking for some tips on whats best to see.

Want to do a trip to the reef - have read that there are some better than others.

Also want to do Kuranda - Have been told that train up & gondola back is best ? Yes/No

Also, believe you have to book heaps in advance ?

We are aged late 40's & looking for quality time togther as well as seeing whats around.

G'Day Shaz,

You mention a trip to the reef, but did you want to go snorkelling/diving, or maybe a glass bottom boat sort of viewing. All different levels of experience and access, and depending on what you want, different tours may offer something relevant to your requirements.

With regards to the Kuranda visit, most people seem to prefer the train up/skyrail back down, yes, but then there is the issue with relocating back to your accommodation from the two different locations. The train leaves from Cairns Central in town, (and stops at Freshwater on the northern outskirts to collect visitors from that area), and the skyrail terminates at Caravonica, about 6kms away.

The Sea Change Apartments are at Trinity Beach about another 10kms away further north, so if you're hiring a car, it might be easier to scoot around from place to place. A Shuttle service operates from the Skyrail terminal to take people back to Freshwater, so this might be the best option for you, if you leave your car there...or if you catch the train from Cairns central then you have to get back there to collect it...If you are hiring a car that is.

As you can see there are a few areas that would need to be clarified, but with a small amount of perseverance, we can help you sort it out. Plenty of time, and there's nothing like a bit of good planning beforehand.

No real need to book anything ahead of time, until you get a bit closer to the date...besides any sort of honeymoon (1st, 2nd, or 20th) usually just requires a room only anyway...but I do also understand the need to occasionally get out into the daylight.

Cheers mate,

I looked at your accomodation website, sure looks nice. Very nice. Not many places with sea views in Far Norh Queensland.

There is loads to do so hard to give suggestions without taking up 5 pages. Have you been up this way before?

Some options. Breakfast with birds Port Douglas before heading north to Cape Trib, maybe via Mossman Gorge. Check out.

On the way back drop into Port Douglas village for a wander.

My favourite Sunday when visiting (haven't done this for a while) is Sunday brunch at Coco Cafe at Cairns International. Starts at 11.30 but you can eat for hours. Is is about $62.50 each now so gone up a bit so hopefully still good value. It did include drinks - champagne and dacquiri only. Afterwards stroll along the esplanade, try your luck in casino or go back to room to sleep off lunch.

Atherton tablelands, mixture of attractions from dry forest with termite mounds to rainforest, lakes and waterfalls, food tasting, cute towns and far enough south is Paronella Park.

Mission beach/Dunk Island if weather is nice beautiful spot.

Great Barrier Reef of course. Kuranda fun day out.

Well that leaves no time for canoodling so leave it at that for now. :)

Hi shaz

No, you don't have to book Kuranda Train/Skyrail heaps in advance, but a little notice is good. For instance, both morning trains tomorrow to Kuranda are fully booked. And often booked out if a cruise ship is in town. If you book direct with Skyrail - www.skyrail.com.au they'll provide shuttle transfers (at a cost) to and from both the Skyrail station near Smithfield and the Freshwater Connection railway station. Pick-up and drop-off for Trinity beach is on corner of Moore St and the road running from highway into Trinity Beach, only a few minutes walk from Sea Change.

If self-driving you'll need a transfer from the Skyrail station to Freshwater Connection to retrieve your car, these are a few kms apart, also provided by Skyrail shuttle. Charge also applies.

Enjoy Trinity, its one of my favourite spots, has a few good eateries too.
