How can we see the Rainforests and waterfalls etc , Cape Trib etc with a 3 year old boy , obviously he can not do a long walk or trek but we would love to see the other things that Cairns area has beside the GBR. Any sugestions would be appreciated , Thanks

Two suggestions:

1. Train/Skyrail combo to Kuranda. There's two places on the Skyrail where you can get out and walk around on a boardwalk amongst the trees. It would not be too far for a 3-year-old to walk.

2. Do a self-drive to Daintree NP. There are two or three short walks there (boardwalks) that your son should be able to do. There's a picnic area at Jindalba Boardwalk too.

The waterfall circuit southern Atherton tablelands has no major walks. All fairly close to car parking areas,

Botanic Gardens, has remnant rainfroest walk. the gardens themselves can bea treat at times with rare flowers plus all the gorgeous gingers, Just had the Titan Arum

Mossman Gorge also very well developed for tourist accessibility.

its great, means we could do what we wanted with out taking a buggy.
