Driving to Undara Lava Tubes and Cobbold Gorge

Hi,

Am planning a trip in April 2013 and thinking of doing a drive from Yungabarra to Undara Lava Tubes, stay one night, do the Lava tubes tour and the next day, on to Cobbold Gorge, stay another night and do the gorge tour.

Please advise if the above planning is possible? Secondly, is the road from Georgetown to Cobbold Gorge suitable for a conventional vehicle? Any tips is appreciated. Thanks!

My feeling is that it's still a long drive to just go for one night as there are quite a few lovely walks to do around the kava tube area.

Keep in mind that at that time of year you may still have road closure issues due to rain season and a 2wd may not be a great idea.

Look at the racq website for road information.

Have you tried the exploroz forum? You may get some more specific road info
