Cairns to Cooktown Snorkleing - best value

Hi, we'd love to do some snorkleing on our holiday. Can anyone suggest a short snorkleing trip that is budget friendly anywhere between Cairns and Cooktown (we dont have a 4WD)?

Thanks in advance

Hi

There are no snorkelling trips out of Cooktown (but there are great croc spotting, wildlife and fishing tours) so you would need to go from Cairns, Port Douglas or Cape Tribulation. The coast road as far as Cape Tribulation is spectacular and bitumen so no 4WD necessary. The inland road between Cairns and Cooktown is also completely bitumen so no 4WD necessary. Sorry I can't be more specific with a particular tour.

Another vote for Ocean Safari, especially for a shorter tour as most are full-day. Our guests who've gone with Ocean Safari have all loved it!

Cairns and Port Douglas also have many many snorkelling boat trips. So perhaps decide where you want to do it from, if you want a small personal boat where you snorkel off the back of or a larger, less personal boat but with more facilities ie a pontoon and glass bottom boats and semi sub. Also have a think about budget because you can get a reef trip from maybe $80 per person to $200 per person. As usual you tend to get what you pay for but that is not to say that if you are only after a cheaper option that there are not many many companies who offer an excellent no frills reef trip. Enjoy e planning and come back with a little more info if you can!
