Restaurant recommendations

Hi. Could I have some recommendations for restaurants in Cairns that aren't too expensive?

We will be staying at the IL Palazzo Boutique Apartment Hotel in Abbott Street which I believe is in the heart of Cairns near the night markets

If you don't want to leave hungry, try the Bushfire Flame Grill for their "churrasco experience". It's all-you-can-eat. Not the cheapest option but if you arrive early (I think before 7pm, they give a discount).

Try doing a search on Tripadvisor for Cairns restaurants, put in some search parameters of what you're looking for and I'm sure you'll come up with something!

If you like Vietnamese there is great little place Pho Viet which is nearby. What is your budget?

The night markets have a food court (if you like westernized Asian).

The Pier does $12 meals which include a drink. They have a range of pizzas/salads/pub style meals. They are down by the Pier complex at the harbour.

Orchid Plaza near the woolworths in town (you will find it easily on Lake St) has some good Japanese and Korean food.

Most of the restaurants on the esplanade are overpriced and touristy, but Splash does have seafood and they do a lunch special for $15.90.

Restaurant reviews on this site are pretty good in my opinion. Sort by ranking. Avoid any that have Crocodile, emu or kangaroo on them, barramundi unless it says wild, you will wonder what all the fuss is about. Frozen from Vietnam is the most common thats why they can do Barra & Chips for 8.95!

One of my favourites especially for the full on fresh local produce, food in it's setting experiences is Yorkys Knob Yacht Club you can catch a bus, pay for a taxi don't drive stay for the Sunset! Go for the Specials, alcohol is very well priced, though if there is a cruise ship in avoid it.
