port douglas/cains tours

myself and the good lady wife are heading to cains for 3 nites and port douglas for 5 nites in october. should we book the tours now (as the travel agent advises - although of course she may just want a commission!) or should we wait until were actually there and book at that stage. for example is there a chance they could all be booked up when we get there....or all the best ones anyway....

plus has anyone stayed at radisson treetops? seemed lovely but has been getting some bad reviews.......

thanks

Defo thinking of doing the same on the honeymoon. Never been that far side of the pond before and don't know how long we should be spending in each place to get the max. How did you decide? Presume we'll get a better feel for what we should be doing when we talk to a few more. We're thinking of Bali on the way back instead of Tokyo though. Are you renting transport over there or making your way by tours?

Hi

If you are at all interested in seeing Australian native wildlife check out Wait-a-while Tours. Most of Australian wildlife is nocturnal and their tours go out at night spotlighting- alot of the wildlife is threatened and rare like Tree Kangaroos.. also see platypus ,possums, snakes, wallabies etc... There are tours are quite different from the run of the mill day tours and they are small numbers. No touching of the wildlife but they fill up quick .

If you are in Port Douglas on a Thursday Night go to the Central Hotel in the main street -they have a Musos jam night. It is a local thing and well worth checking out.

thanks for the info. the nite tours sound brilliant.

grognads (hard luck with the footy by the way) i didnt really av a clue wot to do or where to book but the travel agent had been there and recommeneded this itinery. ideally id luv to av hired a car in sydney and driven....but because were fairly short on time were flying up......from there all the tours are guided.......so a more relaxed holiday..but were missing out on fraser isalnd and the whitsundays.

im sure it'll be grand wotever u decide....dreading the flight tho!

take it easy and let me no if u want any more info.

cheers
