Restaurant Recommendations

My husband and I are staying in Port Douglas for 4 days next January and are wondering if anyone would be willing to share some of their favorite, less expensive restaurants for us to try while we're there. We're looking to spend $100/day for the 2 of us. We'd like to do a quicker lunches and informal sit-down dinners. We like all types of food & we're in our late 20s/early 30s.

Thanks for your recommendations!

We love to eat at Zinc its not cheap but you must try it once,as the other poster said the combined club is great for cheap pub style meals and the view would be the best in port(over looking the inlet.)another cheap but good meal is the central hotel in the main street we usally have a cheap lunch of local reef fish and salad for about 9 aus dollars.

There is over 100 places to eat in the Port Douglas from small cheap cafes to expensive restaurants.

I like the Central Hotel in macrossan Street for fun, fast and yummy food and you can wash it down with a beer and haven't broken the bank!

Also Finz for seafood is quite affordable and nice. Han Court Chinese is really relaxing and will satisfy the hunger for Chinese style food!

If you like Thai, Star of Siam in the main street is resonably cheap and good.

There is 2 supermarkets in town, so if you want the cheapest meal, pick up some cold meats, bread and salad and make your own ssandwiches on the beach- really beautiful places for picnics all around town/area.

We found great value at the Court House Hotel at the marina end of Macrossan St.

Usual pub food, except for the seafood platter which at $40 was excellent value, and was more than enough for the 2 of us.

You place your order at a counter and get a number. We had only just reached our table upstairs when the food arrived. Best meal we had in PD. Mix of fresh and cooked seafood. Oysters, sea scallops, crab, whiting fillets, king prawns, couple of sauces, chips. Free live music and reasonable drink prices.

Our family went to the port last year and loved it. Our favourite place for dinner was the combined services club. Good food and great place to sit as the sun goes down and have a drink. We also had a couple of cheap meals at the Court House. They had specials on certain nights, such a pasta on Mondays, steak on Tuesday type of thing, which were good value. If you want to stop for a coffee Rehab on the main street is fantastic. Have fun

You will be spoilt for choice with so many wonderful places to eat in Port Douglas. It is foodie heaven. Our favourite for excellent food and service is Zinc. It is not cheap but well worth trying, have a look at their website before you visit Port. Salsa is always good and a lovely place to relax over a lazy lunch. If you just want something cheap and cheerful try EJs fish and chips a great place in the centre of Macrossan Street to sit and people watch.

Have a great time.
