Port Douglas trip - early October

We will be in Port Douglas the first week in October - which I believe is school holiday time.

Do we need to book a reef trip in advance - we think Wavelength or similar would be our preferred option but we don't have specific dates as yet.

Would we be ok leaving it until we arrive or are we likely to be caught out.

We traveled during a school break, and coincidentally also booked Wavelength (THEY WERE AWESOME!), and the boat was full. Had we not booked in advance, we would not have gotten on the boat. Keep in mind, Wavelength specializes in small group snorkel, so space is naturally limited. The other big boats companies looked packed full of people as we rode by them in the harbor, but did not look full. Contact the Wavelength office and see what they say (Ph # 7-4099-5031).

hi, the time of year you are talking about is the absolute busiest time of the year outside of Christmas holidays. It falls within the domestic school holiday period. Any small group tour like Wavelength will be very heavily booked. I second profguys recommendation. Send Wavelength an email and make a booking. They dont charge you anything until the day of travel, so if you cancel and give them more than 24 hours notice then there is no charge.
