8 days in south Australia

Hi, thinking of doing a 8 days tour in south Australia during the last week of dec. we have 2 adults n 2 kids (11yr, 7yr). Most likely we will fly in n out of Adelaide. Any recommendable must visit places? And will there be problem getting accommodation during that time of the year? We are more keen to visit natural sceneries than museums.

Thks.

Hi,

Everywhere in Australia is busy in December as its our summer school hols as most Australians love to getaway.,.. so book ahead to avoid any disappointment.

December is our summer so being close to the beaches for your kids would be ideal. With 8 days you do have many options available.

Itinerary suggestion are you are hiring a car ? ? is so consider driving via the Mclaren Vale to the Fleurieu Peninsula & onwards to Kangaroo island. You will however have to check with the hire company if you can take your car over to KI.

Stay 2 nights Adelaide - stay city or beach.

Stay overnight Victor Harbor - see Granite Island.

Catch the ferry over to Kangaroo Island - stay 4 days.

Day / night Adelaide. ( Glenelg) beach - close to the airport,

Thks for the prompt response!

We plan to hire a car. Any recommendable car hire which allows us to bring the car over to kangaroo island? 4 nights in Ki! How big is the island n do u suggest to stay all the 4 nights in one location? Is it very costly to bring the hired car over to Ki? Or is it cheaper to pick up a rental car at the island?

Some companies allow cars to go on the Ferry but if you are travelling light some people do find that flying down and hiring a car is more convenient. How big?>

I suggest you check the tripadvisor.com.au/ShowTopic-g255092-i697-k5… page and click on the link which takes you to the videos. The Kangaroo Island one may answer some of your questions and will give you an overview of the Island itself. In a word.. Yes, it's big... five times larger than Singapore or so,... certainly not a tiny place.

Kangaroo Island will have lots of lovely natural scenery for you. Most people book a holiday home but you WILL need to get in early. Suggest sites such as Stayz etc. Google "kangaroo island accommodation" or visit the TKI website for more information www.tourkangarooisland.com.au/‎

We will arrive in Adelaide in the late evening, plan to stay near the airport for the night. Will like to travel south to Cape Jervis to catch a ferry to KI on the next day. Have checked the ferry schedule, available timing will be 9am, 10am, 6pm. If we were to take the 6pm ferry, any suggestion on how to spend the extra hours that we have?? We have plans to continue our journey eastwards when we return from KI to Cape Jervis. If there is nothing much to do, then is catching the 10am ferry a better option??
