Temperatures?

We will be in Adelaide at the end of December and the first week of January.

What can we expect from the weather? temperatures? rain?

Will it be warm enough to swim? where would you suggest?

Will we need just summer clothes?

Any information would be greatly apprciated.

thanks

1. Re: Temperatures?

Weather is always something that's gonna be a little unpredictable, as even though our summer starts on December 1st, it's not unheard of to have rain at Christmas, or to have an extreme heatwave arrive in November.

At that time of year expect hot and ready for the beach, but I cant pretend to be psychic or try to guess what will actually come.

Maybe these will help provide an indication for you by displaying averages:

Coming from new zealand you will definately think it is hot. Last year we had a very bad spell of hot days in november, but christmas was pleasant. Often in january there can be summer storms, caused by the build up of heat in the atmosphere. Overall though yes it is hot in january and not only that our sun is very strong and burns the skin. Wear cool clothes such as cotton and if going outdoors take a light long sleeve shirt. Perhaps even a dark umberella for personal shade is handy when travelling.

swimming yes..go on the tram from the city to glenelg, or west beach, henley beach are west of the city...a little further north west is semaphore which is lovely in the evening for a stroll and a paddle. It is a lovely old fashooned main street with many cafes and pubs for meals...also a picture theatre..the odeon star with only $9 movies every session....dont go to the beach if its a really hot day...better early morning or later in the evening as we have daylight saving it can still be hot until 8pm.

enjoy your holiday, I love auckland ( I think you are our sister city???) ♡
