budget accommodation

Hi, we are 2 couples travelling throughout Tasmania early March and have heard of budget accommodation in old railway cottages. However my research online has given me no information re this, does anyone know of these cottages and who to contact please? thank you.

Maybe they are at Corinne or close to Strahan. Usually Caravan and Holiday Parks have cheap accom and cosy Cabins. Have you tried YHA?

Also try www.visittasmania.com.au

Hi,

During our (3rd) trip in August last yr, (12 days) we mostly stayed in Caravan parks. We found them excellent value, great, neat, tidy, clean accomm and budget priced. So- depending on your itinerary you just have to search them our. Like any state, there are various groups- eg Cosy Cabins, then Family Parks etc. We stayed in 2 bedroom cabins of "Cosy"'s they were comfortable, but bedrooms very small.

Check out www.discovertasmania.com.au; accom- caravans etc. Not sure about railway carriages- will try to find out more info for you.How long are you travelling for and which directions?

Cheers

Thanks for the info. We will be in Tas for just 2 weeks and have decided to do both B & B and budget accommodation alternately, depending on the situation at the time. The Railway cottages we have since heard are more work than we need on holiday. The cosy cabins look the way to go sometimes.

Hi,

with a well planning(or noted) itineraary you will have a fabulous time with many memories. Do your research, make note of what you would like to see. Depending on any given day, and weather conditions, you might be lucky to complete at least half the list. It is just that you see so much along any given road, that you stop and start and miss doing what you have down. I take a folder with contact details of interesting places to stay overnight, and ring ahead to book if need be.

Other ideas for accomm- depending whether you are pre-booking or just taking pot luck along the way are as follows;

www.innkeeper.com.au

www.caravantasmania.com.au (list all the parks around tassie)

www.tassiepubs.com.au

www.familyparks.com.au

and as a suggestion- we stayed here. Quaint little colonial cottages- exquisit and budget priced,

www.westburycottages.com.au. (about 30mins west of launceston in town of Westbury-great steam museums here).

Hope this info hels. Otherwise do some searching on this site for previous suggestions with regards accomm. Happy planning and enjoy.

Cheers
