Hi, looking for ideas (I'm doing my own separate research, but there's always a distinct disconnect between guide books, tourist websites and reality) for a trip with 3 kids (aged from 8 months to 10).
We arrive 1 Dec in Launceston. I've booked the Hotel Charles for 3 nights (ie Launceston 1-3 Dec).
Not quite sure what to do from 1 - 6 Dec yet. Thought of Cradle Mountain...
On 6-8, thought I'd take our city kids to Hamilton. We'd stay at Curringa Farm for 2 nights, before heading to Hobart.
We end in Hobart. I'm thinking of being there from Saturday(8 Dec) to Tuesday (11 Dec). Does that give us sufficient time to relax and see the surrounds? I had thought the Grand Chancellor would be a nice place to say since it has a pool to entertain my older boys and is well located, but some posts in this forum suggest otherwise. Hence other recommendations welcome! Budget $300-$400/night.
Basically, we will rent a vehicle, but we don't intend to drive more than 2 hours a day as we don't want a crazy baby in car! Older kids are easy - playgrounds, pools, animals and open spaces would keep them happy. If they get to pick their own fruits, fish or ride a horse, super! Hubby and I would love peace and good food! Places we stay must be nice (clean, not old, good beds and sheets, good room service menu (if possible).
Any thoughts welcome, especially local gems we should go/do.
