Is it expensive?

my friend and i are planning to travel to 8 day freen & easy Tasmania in June. we have inquired our travel agent and the rate they quoted us is S$2650 (AUD 2070) per pax which includes the following:

1) Flight tickets & taxes

- from Singapore to Launceston

- from Hobart to Singapore)

2) 3 nights stay in Grand Chancellor Launceston Hotel (with breakfast)

3) 5 nights stay in Grand Mercure Hadleys Hobart (with breakfast)

4) transfers

- from Launceston airport to Grand Chancellor

- from Grand Chancellor to Launcenston Transist Area

- from Hobart Transist area to Grand Mercure

- from Grand Mercure to Hobart airport

5) Visa application

6) Cradle Mountain day tour

7) Ruseell Fall day tour

Is this expensive?? or will we be able to get a cheaper rate by online booking or elsewhere?

It sounds about right to me. You're paying about $200 per day for good quality accommodation and two full day tours.

While you may be able to save a little with direct bookings, it may also be more difficult than working with an agent.

Note that your transport from Launceston to Hobart doesn't seem to be included. And you also have a lot of "free" time too.

One alternative I would look at is doing a 7 or 8 day tour with one of the Day Tour Companies listed toward the bottom of this page: tripadvisor.com.au/Travel-g255097-s407/Hobar…

Cost is fine for what you have been offered. You could choose cheaper accom, depending on what you want. Certainly plenty of free time!. How are you getting from Launceston to Hobart? You mention transfer to the transit centre-does that mean you have a bus ticket booked to take you to Hobart? If not that needs to be looked into as that is an extra cost. There is has alot to see and on offer in Tassie and in particular between the places you have mentioned. Also, the month of June would be very cold. If you don't have a drivers licence which would enable you to hire a car and do your own sight seeing, I would certainly recommend doing a tour which would take you around many more places of interest as Luigi has recommended, rather than just stay in the 2 places. An all inclusive tour which would also include accomm and possibly meals may be a better way to go, so that you can really see and enjoy what tassie haas to offer.

For the following day tours, we will be booking with other tour group:

That looks good.

There's not much point in going to Bridestowe in June. The lavender is in flower in December and January.

You don't need to book a tour to go to Cataract Gorge. It's free (unless you want to buy a ticket on the chairlift and you don't need to do that in advance) and it's within walking distance of your hotel.
