is thinking to show my gf Tasmania before she leaves, so, made a rough itinerary where to go and what to see in those days. want to note, have booked a car for 5 days only and will spend a day being a pedestrian. as this a template only, would like to revise it based on your reviews. Pls feel free to leave your comments.
ok, lets go.
Devonport to Launceston
planning to stop at the following places on a way to it:
Anvers Chocolate factory
Ashgrove cheese factory
Christmas Hills raspberry farm
Will give it around 2.5-3 hours to reach Launceston.
have booked accommodation at Arthouse backpackers hostel. due to the limited time i can spend on a trip, can stay there over night only. the following places are scheduled:
cataract george ( is a must), all the rest can be considered as an option:
tamar island wetlands
19th June. is planning to drive the whole day as have to visit:
can stop at Highfield historic site and places mentioned above.
i don't think i'll have enough time there as to be at Cradle Mountain by 4pm.
the nut Stanley- Cradle Mountain.
to see on the way: dip falls, the big tree
accommodation over night at: Discovery Hotel Park
to see at Cradle Mountain:
dove lake circuit
lake st clair.
again, not sure what is the must thing see as will be there around 4pm. leave you an option to suggest, any night walks?
on 20th June the road trip will continue to Strahan.
what to see and where to go on the way there is currently empty.
i've got two options:
depart from cradle mountain early in the morning around 5am and arrive to strahan by 8.30 am to catch a gordon river cruise and have a second half of the day free for Henty Dunes, Hogarth Falls and Ocean beach. however, if i decide to leave later, i will not be in a hurry and have a chance to enjoy picturesque view and catch a night cruise at 7.30pm.
is really keen to do wilderness railway, not sure about the timetable (is not available that day).
will stay over night at YHA.
btw, have heard about "the ship that never was'" play (is it still on in off-peak season)? not sure
next, on 21st my way continues to Hobart, my last stop and the end of my whole journey.
to see on the way there:
Wall in the Wilderness
Cadbury visitor centre
where to stay: is still looking around and have not got anything yet.
ok, this is my basic route only and most probably i will stick to it due to limited time. however, will consider any deviations.
would be pleased if you suggest any restaurants, cafes or bistros on the whole way from Devonport to Hobart.
thank you in advance,
