we are planning to do the Maria Island walk.

do you recommend hiking shoes or will runners be ok

Proper walking shoes/boots are best as it can be a bit damp and rocky in places. Good support and protection are the go.

Can't agree more.

Proper hiking gear is always recommended for all walking in Tassie any time of the year.

Strong walking boots protect your feet! and make walking more confortable.

Thanks for that. My wife would like to wear runners but I assume they will not give enough protection
