Accomodation with three children

Hi, we are looking to spend 5 nights in Tassie with our three children.(our first trip) A farm/country or historic house would be lovely and two nights in Hobart. We plan to keep it simple, the weekend in Hobart, day trip to Port Arthur and two days exploring in a car. Any child friendly suggestions for where to stay would be much appreciated.

We can fly into Launceston and out of Hobart, not yet decided.

Take a look at this place in Hobart. While it's not in the Hobart city centre, it could fit the bill. http://www.grahamcourt.com.au/

I think I'd fly into and out of Hobart, given your rough itinerary. You seem to be spending most of your time down that way anyway.

Once you narrow down where else you want to visit, take a look at www.stayz.com.au for family house accommodation. The "B&B", "Other Accommodation" and "Holiday Rentals" links off the TripAdvisor "Hotels" page (on the left) will also be helpful.

When are you travelling?

Hi Melrose,

For Hobart accommodation this also might fit your needs. My brother and his family have stayed here several times, personally I haven’t but he talks highly of them.

A nice drive your kids might like is to Mt Field Nat Park, do the Russell Falls walk, very easy walk, on the way drop in to the Salmon Ponds, they can put a couple of dollars in to a vending machine ot get some fish food out, take a picnic lovely grounds, a bit of fun.

I would also recommend flying in and out of Hobart.

Safe travels - Robert

Hi Melrose,

If you do go to Launceston my family likes the Tamar Valley Resort. There's lots to do for the family. If you go to there website and join there wicked Wednesday, each Wednesday they will send you some really good bargains.

Our daughter loved feeding the fish at the Salmon Ponds. She also loves Zoo Doo (animal/devil park). Once agian there is a lot of things for children to do here and they have bbq's if your organised.

If you look up lets go kids ( Tasmania) you can get some really good discounts in there free book, like the salmon ponds.

When was you looking at coming down? Have you found any accommodation that has interested you so far?

You would be best suited to an apartment with a family. We always stay at the Sullican Cove Apartments & love them..

For additional info on Hobart -

Another vote for visiting Mt Field National Park & Tasmania Devil Conservation Park.

If you want to stay at a farm Tara's Farmstay at Richmond has excellent reviews on Tripadvisor. Richmond is approx 30 minutes from Hobart and 1 hour from Port Arthurt. Zoodoo Wildlife Park is also very close to Richmond.

My children (teenagers) enjoyed the jetboats at Huonville, and there are also jetboats at New Norfolk (both places about 30 min from Hobart). We all enjoyed Salamanca Market in Hobart (Saturdays only).
