Is this do-able on a Sunday?

Going to be renting a car. Would you guys think this itinerary is manageable in one day?

1. University of Tasmania

2. Wrest Point Casino

3. Mount Nelson

4. Mount Wellington

5. Richmond historic village

6. Lunch at Dunalley Waterfront Cafe

7. Port Arthur Leave at 16:30

8. Dinner in city at 18:00 or before

9. Airport 19:15 - 20:15 flight

Thanks in advance! And any tips for lunch/dinner greatly appreciated :)

It looks more like a two day itinerary to me unless you just intend to drive by places. For example, Port Arthur alone will take you about 3.5 hours driving there and back and a couple of hours to see the place. And how long do you intend to stay at the casino?

I guess we won't stay long for each attraction apart from Port Arthur. Is 3hours sufficient for Port Arthur?

Is there a lot to see at the casino? We aren't that keen on gambling at all so not long hopefully?

Google Maps says total driving time is 4hours 20minutes, and one way from city to Port Arthur is 1hr 20minutes. Are these figures realistic at all?

Googlemap travel times are not realistic for tasmania. They assume straight roads where you can travel at the speed limit. It's about 1 hour 45 minutes to port arthur allowing for no traffic.

As it's Sunday, I'd skip the University. It's just a bunch of mostly 1970s buildings. And if you don't intend to gamble, why go to the casino? And if you are going up to the top of Mount Wellington, then Mount Nelson is redundant too.

So, starting at the airport, go to Port Arthur. Stop for lunch on the way back at Dunalley. See Richmond. Go to Mount Wellington. Have dinner. Return to airport.

It's still a busy day, but if you run short on time, you can just look at Mount Wellington from a distance. :)

Hi,

Great advice from Luigi.

Port Arthur can easily take most of the day if you add in any tours such as The Isle of the Dead etc. We often take visitors there and we allow the whole day.

Thanks for the tips guys :)

We only plan on doing the 'bronze' tour for Port Arthur.

By the way is it absolutely necessary to do the tour? Or can you just browse the surroundings yourself?

You don't have to do the tour - which you will have paid for. :)
