We have the choice of two Airbnbs which both sound good.

One is in Elizabeth st the Landmark building & the other in Southbank Central south building.

We are in our late 50s and want to be right in town easy walking distance or close to the free tram stops.

Any thoughts on which would be best?

Thanks in advance

I am not aware of the Landmark building in Elizabeth St. Have you got an address please? However, Elizabeth St cuts through the heart of the city, and is one of the main city roads, with plenty of shops, cafes and restaurants and of course is within the free tram zone. Southbank Central apartments, are located behind the casino, but a 15 minute walk to the CBD. Even though Southbank is an excellent choice, I would go with Elizabeth St.

I'm with Navy35 for the same reasons. I'm also unsure about the Landmark building, let us know if you have a street number.

Well that's a nice central location. I don't know the building but some of the Melbournites on the board may.

That is a brand new building. You are within the free tram zone and a 5 minute walk from both the Queen Victoria market and Bourke St mall.

Julie, I agree with Elizabeth St. If you are exercise types though then Southbank may be a better option if you want to get out for morning walks. There are some great walks from that area along the Yarra and around the Botanical Gardens. Your Elizabeth St location is at the north west corner of the CBD and Southbank on the southern edge. Places like Eureka, Art Centre, Casino, Fed Square, MCG will be closer to Southbank whilst Vic Market, Bourke St, Old Melb Gaol, city shops, etc will be closer to Elizabeth St.
