Where are some great places to eat, around the South Wharf?

My husband and I are heading to Melbourne for 4 days for a wedding in September. Have got nothing planned really, but just some R &R, lots of walking and some nice meals. We are staying at the Hilton South Wharf. So looking for some suggestions on nice places to eat at, for either breakfast, lunch or dinner. We will visit the Crown Casino one night, so wheres nice for a dinner there too. Thanks

The strip of renovated wharf sheds are all restaurants. So far I have tried The Meat Market twice there. Great steaks, ports and venison.

Also there in the sheds Is one called the Sharing Place - popular tapas place. Haven't tried it yet but it always looks busy.

Just over the water (you will see a white pedestrian bridge) turn right and you will find a row of restaurants including Lebanese place called Byblos which I tried this week and can highly recommend. Nearby is a tepenyaki place and bar/restaurant. Haven't tried them yet but again they always look busy and popular.

We found the tapas bar in the hotel to be very good

I'm not a fan of eating in house

other places we have enjoyed include Number 8 (casino) wasn;t fussed on the seafood place despite the huge queue to get in (they didn't take reservations)

Like the deck and the greek in southbank, both walkable

The Casino nearby has some excellent dining including Nobu and Rockpool.

Hi,

We have stayed at The Hilton South Wharf numerous times & have always enjoyed it. There are heaps of restaurants in Southbank...

My favourites -

Nobu - Pricey but excellent.

Leftbank - http://www.leftbankmelbourne.com.au/

Tutto Bene - Italian - fab risotto

Rockpool - http://www.rockpool.com/melbourne/ ( make sure you book ahead as its difficult to get a table).

If you like asian, we often eat at the Red Emperor on southbank and have always enjoyed the meals. Everyone we have taken there have also enjoyed it. Book a table overlooking the Yarra for wonderful views; especially pretty at night. They have just moved and are now directly below their original position.

If you want a beautiful feast, make a night of it and book for the Langham Hotel buffet dinner in Melba restaurant. Fresh seafood and various 'stations' with chefs who cook to order - stations include Indian (with a tandoori oven), Asian, Japanese, Italian and a carvery. Once again, try to book a table with a river view.

We have eaten at Rockpool twice and have to say we've been a little underwhelmed. For the price we expected a lot better.

In South Wharf itself - this is not bad

Many options in Crown. I thought Mr Hive is quite good.
